Top 5 Must-See Things at National Charter School Conference 2017!

Teachers, administrators, and others in the education world are gathering in Washington D.C. this week for the annual National Charter School Conference, which bills itself as the best learning and networking event for charter school educators, leaders, and advocates, so of course we’re there, too.

With a conference as large as this one, it’s easy to miss something interesting or exciting. Don’t worry! In this, like with many other things, AAE has your back. We’ve got a crack team on the grounds, sending back reports of what absolutely can’t be missed. Check out our top 5 list below:

  1. The Exhibit Hall: The exhibit hall at the 2017 conference is huge! There’s a ton of great PD resources, and we’ll make sure to share what we learn with you later on. As you wander the aisles and pick up your swag, don’t miss the booths for National School Choice Week and National Right to Work, and don’t forget to swing by and visit us at booth #801!
  2. Curious George: Our on-site team has excitedly reported sightings of everyone’s favorite mischievous monkey. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, who owns the rights to the book, brought him along. Keep your eyes peeled for him wandering around!
  3. State Receptions: The state charter school associations all have their own receptions and meetings Tuesday, June 13th at 5 PM. Make sure that you swing by yours and learn what’s going on in your state.
  4. The Attendees: The National Charter School Conference is attended by thousands of dedicated and fascinating teachers and school leaders. Reach out to someone new and ask their story, we’re willing to bet you’ll be blown away.
  5. Teachers as Charter School Advocates: Most excitingly, AAE is hosting its own panel today, Tuesday, June 13th! Come to Salon G at 2 pm to learn how teachers can be advocates for the schools that they work in. We may be biased, but we think this is the most important session all week!

See you there!
